I offer psychotherapy in person and virtually to individuals, couples, and families with a variety of concerns, specializing in relationship issues (social, familial, romantic, workplace), adult families (parents and adult children, adult siblings), grief and loss, persons living with acute or chronic illness (their own or that of a loved one), and physicians and physician couples.

All other things being equal, in-person treatment is preferable. For individuals or couples whose location or circumstances make it difficult to attend in-person therapy, virtual therapy can be a good alternative. Depending on an individual’s or couple’s level of distress and ability to make use of virtual therapy, I may strongly recommend or require that we meet in person. Individual therapy — $225/session (45 minutes); $300/extended session (60 minutes)

Individual therapy begins with several sessions devoted to getting to know you and what has brought you into treatment at this time, and exploring how I can be of help. Together we will identify goals for treatment and establish an initial expectation of how frequently we will meet and how long we will work together. I meet with individuals at least weekly and sometimes twice a week, depending on circumstances. Typically individuals feel some relief after a few sessions, and may continue to work in therapy for a period of several months to several years, depending on the depth of change they are seeking.

Couple therapy — $275/session (45 minutes); $365/extended session (60 minutes); $550/double session (90 minutes)

Couple therapy begins with several sessions devoted to getting to know the two of you and what has brought you into treatment at this time, and exploring how I can be of help. Together we will identify goals for treatment and establish an initial expectation of how frequently we will meet and how long we will work together. Depending on circumstances, I may recommend individual therapy for one or both partners in addition to or instead of couples therapy. I meet with couples weekly at the beginning of couples therapy, sometimes tapering as the work progresses to meeting every other week, once a month, or periodically for check-ups or check-ins.

Family therapy — $275/session (45 minutes); $365/extended session (60 minutes); $550/double session (90 minutes)

Family therapy may begin with one or more meetings with individual family members and/or family subsystems (parents, adult children individually or together), and usually progresses to meetings with as many family members as are able to participate. Family meetings may be scheduled for extended or double sessions, since there are more people in the room and thus more time is needed for everyone to have an opportunity to speak and to listen. Together we will identify goals for treatment and establish an initial expectation of how frequently we will meet, who will be included in the treatment, and how long we will work together. I meet with families in person at the beginning of family therapy and often for the entire duration of treatment.

Consultations – fees as above for individuals, couples, or families

If you are unsure whether this is the right time to begin therapy or whether I am the right therapist for you, I would invite you to schedule a single session during which we can explore your concerns and consider what might be involved in addressing these in therapy. If you would like to consult with a different therapist I will be happy to assist in identifying a good referral.

Insurance

In the interest of protecting your privacy and your and my shared power and responsibility to decide the course of your treatment, I am not in-network with any insurance plans. Some insurance plans will reimburse policyholders for part of the cost of treatment with out-of-network providers. If you have and wish to use such benefits I can provide you with an insurance-compatible billing statement for you to submit to your insurance provider for this purpose.
